Castle forks front leg bottom ends last update: 12/2003
Well, I forgot to take any pictures while turning the stem, but due to
the uneven shape of the lug, this looked interesting yet.
Here I wedge down the sides leading to the lug for the bottom link pin. Yes, it is FP1 time again, and the tilting dividing head comes in useful.... |
|
Another angle on the front and rear, of course...
and you have to cut a radius with the correct offset to locate the bottom link pin fixing lug.
Now, these are the basic bits, but the shape is still a bit ungainly....
While gluing the ends on, I kept everything well aligned...
... so that looks better yet.
Again, if you do not make a split pattern, the foundry people will hate
your pattern unless you provide a jig masking the undercut portions of the
pattern while the first half of the mould is filled.
Can anybody out there tell me the correct English term for this? In German it is "Aufstampfboden".... A friendly soul out in the web has now told me this is called a "follower board". Thank you, Shaun! |

Ok, that's it.
I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A GOOD FOUNDRY THAT WILL DO A SMALL JOB LIKE THIS IN GOOD QUALITY. ANY SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE? Er, yes, I want STEEL castings, please. |
Any kind of feedback to
